My Salvation and the Local Church, P.S.

I was born and raised in Cambodia and came to the United States when I was nine. I received the Lord Jesus when I was eleven through a denomination in Mineral Wells, Texas. After my regeneration experience, I was not clear regarding the assurance of my salvation but at the same time I had an increasing desire to know the Lord in a deeper and more personal way.

After my family moved to Long Beach, California, my brother received the Lord Jesus through a classmate who met with the local church in Long Beach. That summer while he and other young people went on a trip to Taiwan, my sister and I heard the gospel spoken to us as I've never heard it before. In two hours, I not only heard that God became a man to die for my sins but also that he became the life-giving Spirit (1 Corinthians 15:45) to enter into me to become my life. And by contacting Him in my spirit every day, Christ will gradually spread through every part of my being (Ephesians 3: 17) so that I will become His expression. Then when I with a group of people express Him to such an extent, Christ will return to the earth to marry His bride (Revelation 21:2,9-10). After such a gospel was spoken to my sister and me, the scales were lifted off our eyes and we were impressed. We willingly prayed to solidify the assurance of our salvation. Now, every day I live a life growing in Christ (Colossians 2:19) and letting Christ grow in us. Every day, the Lord Jesus has become so intimate and so real in my daily life.

My impression of the people in the church in Long Beach from the first time I met them: 1) young and old alike loved the Lord Jesus deeply. Right from the start, they instilled within me the desire to love the Lord in the same way; 2) they were a people expressing the Lord Jesus- what they preached matched their living. They were godly in the details of their daily life. Again, right away, I wanted the same kind of godliness manifested in my daily life; 3) they were so absolute for God's heart desire. Their goal and aspiration was just to please the Lord and hasten His return. They did not pursue God for material blessing and a pleasant life. But they would often pray, “ Lord show us your heart's desire. We want to meet your needs, and fulfill your heart's desire”.

Today, I'm so happy to be here knowing Christ and pursuing His heart's desire with all the believers in local church in Long Beach and with all the local churches throughout the earth.
